What is the vision of ePluribus Stanford?

Revitalizing our civic purpose as articulated in Stanford’s founding grant to advance liberal education and democratic governance through the values of academic freedom and free speech; curiosity and critical inquiry; open, inclusive, and constructive dialogue; and compassionate and effective civic engagement and citizenship in our communities and countries, all around the world.

What are the goals of ePluribus Stanford?

Critical Inquiry

Strengthening educational approaches that foreground critical inquiry and diversity of viewpoint, identity, experience, and belief, across all disciplines.

And strengthening civic education, specifically, through teaching and research at Stanford.

Constructive Dialogue

Offering expansive skills training and sustained deliberate practice – through curricular, co-curricular, and residential experiences – creating a campus culture where open, inclusive, and constructive dialogue is practiced and valued.

Civic Engagement

Elevating and expanding opportunities of civic and democratic engagement – within and beyond the university – better preparing informed, ethical, compassionate, and effective community members and citizens, and strengthening our democratic habits.
